PA360 Podcast puts Palo Alto *on the map*
Thanks to those of you who expressed interest in seeing .. or, more accurately, *hearing* new episodes of the PA360 community podcast. Although response to the show has been gratifying — people from all over the world visit the PA360 web site and various episodes of the podcast have been downloaded THOUSANDS of times — it’s clear that the podcast audience still primarily consists of early adopters.
While the technology continues to evolve and the practice of *podcatching* becomes more commonplace, I have been exploring the concept space surrounding the community podcast.
Thanks to the growing trend in citizen journalism and *hyperlocal* sites (which highlight the “lived experience” of places), I’ve come to realize that episodes of the PA360 podcast have value NOT ONLY in -providing relevant info at the time of publication, but also months (or years) later in -preserving memories of events and interviews as a kind of “audio scrapbook”.
Right now I am working to expand the PA360 brand to include OTHER outlets for sharing Palo Alto-related info and stories. Stay tuned!
The PA360 Podcast is pleased to represent Palo Alto on the following community sites:
- Knight Citizen News Network (KCNN): provides tools and info for aspiring citizen journalists along with links to examples of outstanding existing sites
- PlaceBlogger: a one-off site that captures the “lived experience” of places around the country
- AMERICAN-FM: Local Voices — collects and organizes smart, sophisticated podcasts (their phrase, not mine) into topic channels such as media, news, music and local voices.
